I am not of the opinion he fell down one of the shafts. He showed me all the shafts in the area. After leaving school I worked as a mine surveyor for the Govt. mines dept in Bulawayo and I looked at the area maps as I would have loved to have known what happened to David. There were no shafts I saw that David had not shown me during the period of friendship that I knew him. Only the Lord knows and I trust we shall renew our friendship when we meet again over yonder I was in George Grey and considered David a friend of mine.Most of the above comments are acurate. He was a boy of exceptional intelligence with his life before him and a glittering career in prospect. His disappearance remains the school's greatest mystery. Did David plunge down a mineshaft? Was he kidnapped for some witchdoctor's muti? Sadly, we shall never know.
