I see no obituary to IAN LUCAS from Tredgold (-1970). He was a lance corporal in, I think, the Engineering Corps at the time of his death. Ian was killed in action 19/12/1979.

Ian was a talented runner and played for the 1st XV in 1970. I think his claim to fame was kicking over a penalty that won us the match against Peterhouse that year!

Additionally nothing on Capt John Lamb (F, left 1965). I was an officer at 3 (Independent) Company at the time of his death. He was touring the country at the time with General Shaw. He came over to talk to me - recognised me even though I was only a Form II when he left.

He was killed when the helicopter he was in hit an overhead cable whilst en-route to Umtali, about 45 minutes after we had parted company at Inyanga. This was 23/12/1975.

One of my memories of him were playing as a centre in the first victories Falcon 1st XV ever had over Milton and Hamilton in 1965 (I think 8-0 and 5-3) and a wonderful win against Northlea the same year.
